What is Kinesiology?

 

 

Kinesiology is a gentle, non-invasive method of natural healthcare that increases awareness, helps reduce stress and pain, improves performance and promotes health and well being on many levels.

Developed by Dr. George Goodheart in the 1960s, Kinesiology is an exciting integration and synthesis of proven principles and techniques from eastern and western medicine including Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine and the science of muscle monitoring.

 

It can aid the physical, emotional and biochemical aspects of the body to work effectively increase clear communication between the body systems as well as enabling the body to use its own innate natural resources to stay vital and healthy.

 

We all have the potential to be healthier, happier or more fulfilled in various aspects of our life. Kinesiology is suitable for absolutely anyone that is looking to improve their life in some way or move forward towards their own potential. You could be looking for relief from physical difficulties, wanting help with emotional issues or just wanting to take more responsibility for your own health and well -being.

 

The possibilities are wide and varied depending on the individual. The belief central to Kinesiology is that optimum health comes from being in balance with all things. When we are free from negative stress and 'in balance' benefits include: improved general health, increased energy levels, motivation and confidence building, improved posture, pain relief, stress relief, changing attitudes and goal setting, enhanced brain function and improvement to coordination.

 

Consultations

 

A consultation begins with a discussion of what the individual wants to achieve from the session. This could be relief from pain or other physical difficulties, a change in performance or changing how they may be feeling emotionally.

This allows the client to be in charge of the process and proactive in their healing.  The client is working at their own pace, deciding on the most effective goal for each session in collaboration  with the practitioner.

The session itself is referred to as a “Balance” where the intention is to enable the individual to identify and correct any imbalances within their body.

 

 

Identifying and correcting imbalances

The client will then be introduced to the concept of muscle monitoring as a way of obtaining information about how the body is functioning and where there may be imbalances or blockages.

A gentle pressure is used to obtain information about the quality of response of a muscle. For accuracy and comfort the arms and legs are used as levers to access muscles all over the body.

The client and practitioner work together to understand where the imbalances are, before going on to explore what could restore balance to the body.

Imbalances are corrected by using a variety of gentle methods such as Neuro Lymphatic massage points, working on the muscle, acupressure holding points, meridian pathways, nutritional changes or working with emotional responses.

All aspects of the body are taken into consideration to reach optimum physical, emotional and biochemical balance. This way the body is able to work more effectively to reduce its own imbalances, symptoms or illness.
